Bill Rodriguez

Bill Rodriguez, the first educator to join the Explorers project, is an avid skywatcher.
  Bill Rodriguez teaches physics and astronomy at the University School of Nashville in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1976 receving a B.S. in Math and Related Sciences. After teaching six years in California, he and his wife Laura moved to Nashville (her home town) where both of them began teaching at University School. In 1988 he went back to school at Belmont University to pursue a Masters degree. He completed the degree in 1990 receiveing a MEd in Natural Science.

Bill's interest in astronomy began about three years ago and he has been hooked ever since. His students and he conduct star parties for other students at school as well as for the community at large. Bill is a the vice president of the Barnard-Seyfert Astronomical Society, the local astronomy club. Currently, Bill and his students use their own CCD camera to acquire images for themselves as well as other students in the area.

He enjoys swimming, playing water polo, and working on cars. He has owned a 1955 Ford truck since he was in high school and still drives it daily to school. Bill and his wife Laura have two children, Stephen and Emily who both attend University School.
