What our registrants are saying on the registration forms in response to the question:

Of the two options, (1) more funding or (2) better technology resource management,  which do you think is more important in accelerating the closure of the digital divide on HBCU campuses? Explain.

It is hard to choose which one is needed most, because they work hand in hand as resources. There needs to be a better technology resource management so that the things that are available can be exposed and used in a more productive manner. The more funding is necessary because the need for more computer labs and training is also a must.
I think that both are equally important. Better technology resource management is definitely the key. However, this may only be possible for some HBCUs through more funding.
Better technology resource management. Often adequate resources exists but it is not available. Many times its who you know. There also exists an information gap between IT and Faculty.
Better technology resource management

Better resource management
They are equally important, and this statement is not made because of my inability to make a choice. Lots of institutions do not have adequate resources, but many do. Some of those who have resources are doing poor jobs of using what's available to its fullest capability.
In my opinion, better technology is the most important. HBCUs have always had a problem with getting updated, state-of-the-art equipment.
If the government and others would provide more funding, HBCU technology advances would be in better shape.
In my personal opinion, I feel that better technology resource management would allow for a more accelerated closure of the digital gap. These major HBCUs all have a budget they must adhere to. Funds have been allocated for various projects including the upgrade of technological hardware. Each university must take it upon themselves to develop a detailed budget that should be approved by a board and updated bi-fiscally. This would create a level playing field for all students regardless of what institution they choose.
Better funding would help (our) campus ... by replacing the old computers in the labs in my department.
Given that most campuses actually have technologically literate professionals on the pay roll, disparity is definitely a function of funding.
More funding because if we have more funding we would be able to get better technology. The problem is not enough money. For example, the chemistry department at my school is trying to raise more money by selling raffle tickets to update the computer lab.
More funding will accelerate the closure of the digital divide because it will allow for technological advancements in more than one direction.
I do believe that money is a big help in success of anything. But also believe that it is how you use what you have that determines how productive it will be.
More funding
I believe that better technology is the key because sometimes we don't know where the funding goes. If it is placed in the purchasing of computers and other technology based programs we know where it is...
